bigger fish

swimming together in an ocean of time and energy
we’re pushed and pulled by the
ebb and flow and swirl of forces
greater than ourselves
by mass energetic trends and patterns
some of which we create as a group
some of which are created as a product of nature and all life.

perhaps we swim with some bigger fish
forms of intelligence far in advance of our own
or maybe just
different
beyond our understanding if not our perception
we may perceive some of them as predatory
we may perceive some of them as benevolent
but no matter how old or powerful they may be
none of them are gods
they’re all instruments of evolution
nothing more
nothing less
just as we are.
