I have never written a poem about that night. I think I should.
For me, writing one like this one is like putting the capstone on an arch or pyramid. It finishes the experience, or some aspect of the experience, for me. I got lucky in this case as the poem popped right out of a dream more or less fully formed, so I didn’t have to put much work into it.
